EUROPEAN UNIQUE IDENTIFIER (EUID) – NEW IDENTIFICATION ELEMENT FOR PROFESSIONALS

Last updated: 1 August 2017

Are you a company or a certified natural person, registered with the Romanian Trade Registry? In this case, you should be aware of the legal provisions on the identification of professionals that came into force on 7 July 2017 (pursuant to the Order of the Minister of Justice no. 1876/C/06.07.2017, published in Official Journal no. 530 on 6 July 2017.

The purpose of this Order is to approve the structure of the European unique identifier – EUID for professionals registered with the Trade Registry and the model of Trade Registry registration certificate.

EUROPEAN UNIQUE IDENTIFIER (EUID) – STRUCTURE AND ISSUES

On the one hand, Order no. 1876/C/06.07.2017 approved the implementation and structure of the European unique identifier - EUID of professionals registered with the Trade Registry. Thus, as from the effective date of the Order, professionals will be identified by a new element (alongside "traditional" elements, such as registration number in the Trade Registry, sole registration number etc., the EUID will also be used).

The structure of the EUID, as approved by the Order, is the following:

Country code (RO) + identification of the Trade Registry (ONRC) + registration number with the Trade Registry (for companies: J/…).

The purpose of this new identification element is to ensure a better identification of professionals, especially at the European level, in the communication process between the Trade Registries of Member States.

THE NEW MODEL OF THE REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE

In addition, Order no. 1876/2017 also approved the new model of Trade Registry registration certificate, which will be issued in the future after registration. This new model takes account of the implementation of the EUID and thus includes, in addition to the traditional data, the EUID.

In accordance with Order no. 1876/2017, already registered professionals, for whom a certificate of registration has already been issued, do not have to change the existing registration certificate, but they may do so, if they so wish.
